A Spotlight on Our...
The Twelve Plus One Heart Foundation was created during the 40-year reunion for former Aggie student-athletes. Twelve Plus One is dedicated to creating stepping stones for future generations to excel in their future endeavors. Their core values are: Honor, Excellence, Achievement, Resilience and Tenacity.
Jessica McDow won the undergraduate poster presentation at the 31st Rio Grande Symposium on Advanced Materials in Albuquerque in fall 2019.
“My mentors at Sandia have been understanding of what I have on my plate and were able to work with my schedule which helped out a lot. It’s all about time management and willing to sacrifice things that most people wouldn’t,” McDow says.
McDow plans to pursue a Ph.D. in material sciences and engineering.
Former NMSU music student gets Grammy nomination
If you told Eric Burton he’d be nominated for a Grammy Award as he wrote songs on practice pianos in the NMSU music building 10 years ago, he would have laughed. Burton and guitarist/producer Adrian Quesada’s R&B/soul funk duo, Black Pumas, were the Cinderella story of the 2020 Grammys, receiving a nomination for Best New Artist alongside major stars like Billie Eilish. In 2019 they played sold-out tours in the U.S. and Europe.
